Remote Internship with the Ocean Nexus Center (Washington University) and UNEP-WCMC (United Nations Environmental Program-World Conservation Monitoring Centre): Supervisors Drs. Yoshi Ota and Chris McOwen. 

  • Conducted literature review on the relationship between Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and Indigenous people as well as on consultation with Indigenous communities 

  • Delivered an oral presentation on the gap between marine conservation studies and Indigenous studies

  • Produced two reports: (1) genuine partnership between conservationists and (2) Indigeneity of French Polynesia in relation to MPAs

2014 - 2015

Short-term Researcher 

Non-Profit Organization Okinawa Environment Club. Okinawa, Japan. 

  • Designed and conducted a research project on environmental education and ecotourism by interviewing 20+ ecotourism operators in Ishigaki, 

  • Produced an evaluation report for on-going environmental education program with suggestions, such as sustainability and for new programs

2012 - 2013

Short-term Intern/Volunteer

British Non-Government Organization Community-Centered Conservation (C3) in Fiji (a British NGO). Suva, Fiji

  • Conducted fieldwork on Kia island with local members

  • Developed marine environmental education programs
